Finca El Platano
This coffee was produced by Angel Miguel Herrera Neira, at Finca El Platano, in La Coipa, San Ignacio, Cajamarca, Peru. The 0.25 hectare farm is sitting around 1800 MASL.
While were still waiting on processing information for this specific coffee, we know it was selectively harvested, washed, and dried in a solar drier.
This is a bright and complex Gesha, when hot its got floral Guava, Honeydew melon, and classic Orange Blossom aromas. The pallet is juicy but delicate, with gentle acidity and round sweetness making a very pleasant coffee. We found this one quite aromatically intense, with a really unique tropical fruit salad vibe.
Best of Picorana is an annual auction held by Picorana Coffee Roasters in Jaen, Peru. They receive coffee submissions from dozens of local farmers, where the coffee is roasted and then blind cupped. This is the third year of this auction, and we were lucky in Australia to receive these lots. Both of the ones we chose here at Anamorphic were smaller than 2 bags for the entire harvest. Many thanks to Cafe Imports for bringing these coffees to Australia, so we can enjoy the awesome work of these small farmers, who you would likely not see on this side of the globe.
Angel Miguel Herrera Neira and his family handle the entire coffee management and processing cycle together. To protect the environment, they preserve native forest trees, produce their own compost, and use a brush cutter for weeding to prevent soil erosion.
Looking to the future, they hope to improve their quality of life in every aspect.
