Adorsi

This coffee was produced by Faysel Abdosh and the small holder farmers and the workers at the Adorsi Washing Station in Aricha, Yirgacheffe, Gedeo Zone. This lot is a field blend consisting of majority Kurume & Wolisho, along with other Landrace and JARC Cultivars. Adorsi is the washing station managed by Testi Coffee. The washing station is 1950MASL.

Adorsi collects cherry from three neighbouring regions, Idido, Aricha, and Gersi. They are all processed separately for transparency, with this particular lot coming from Aricha Kebele.

This lot was processed using a Washed method. Cherry is carefully hand picked, before being delivered to the washing station. Its sorted carefully in a flotation tank to remove defects, and pulped within 6 - 8 hours of harvesting. The pulped coffee is graded by weight, before being fermented under water for 36 - 48 hours. The coffee is then washed in clean water from the Wogida river, and graded by density in washing channels, before being soaked in clean water for 12 hours. During this process, the clarity of the water is monitored by the mill workers, and replaced if necessary. The clean parchment is then dried on raised beds for 7 days under shade.

For us, this is a brilliant and aromatic Premium Washed coffee. Jasmine florals and classic stonefruit while the coffee is hot. Crisp and juicy yellow Peach on the palate. As the coffee cools it reminds me of Earl Grey breakfast tea, with all the sparkling acidity we love from a great washed coffee.

This is our second year working with coffee from Testi. These lots that we’ve had the pleasure of drinking this year have been incredible. The commitment to quality comes through with these coffees and they remain some of our favorite lots every year.

Adorsi is owned and operated by Testi Coffee, which is a family-run company founded by Faysel Abdosh. This was actually the first washing station owned by Testi, and its become one of the most well-established stations in the program. Its location allows great coffee to easily be delivered by the regions farmers, and the high elevation means the coffee drys slowly.
